Early life
Born Thelma Catherine Ryan in Ely, Nevada shortly before St. Patrick's Day of Irish and German extraction, Pat Nixon acquired her nickname within hours, and eventually changed her name legally. Her father, William Ryan, known as her his "St. Patrick's babe in the morn" when he came home from the mines before dawn.

Her personal shortly moved to California and settled on the little truck garden in the city of Dairy Valley touching Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Kate Halberstadt Bender Ryan, died around 1925; at Baker's dozen, Patrick cooper assumed all the personal duties for her father & deuce older brothers. At Eighteen, within 1930, she wasted her father when nursing him across months of malady.

Left in her have & determined to prove my point her education, she worked her way through the University of Southern California. She held the portiaround-half-time jobs on campus, as a sales clerk in a fashionable emporium, & as an more in the motion picture—& she graduated cum laude in 1937. Marriage and career
She accepted the position as a high-high teacher around Whittier, California; and there she met Richard Nixon, world health organization got came personal from either school of law at Duke University to establish a practice. It became familiar with at a Little theatre class action whenever it were cast in the equivalent play, & were married at the Mission Inn in Riverside, California on June 21, 1940.

When you took World War II, she worked as a government economist when he served in the Navy. When the brief stint around Ottumwa, Iowa, she campaigned at his side in 1946 when he entered politics, running with success for U.S. Congress, and afterward. Inside sise years she saw him elected to the House, the Senate, and a Vice Presidency on the ticket with Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Despite a demands of official life, a Nixons were devoted parents to their deuce girl, Tricia, and Julie.

First Lady

Patrick cooper Nixon utilized her position when Number one Lady to encourage volunteer service. She invited hundreds of families to nondenominational Sunday services in the East Room. She instituted the series of performances by creative person inside varied Western traditions--from either opera to bluegrass. Mrs. Nixon took quietly pride inside adding 600 paintings & antiques to the White House Collection.

She experienced shared her hubby's journeying overseas around his Vice Presidential years, & she continued a practice in the period of his Presidency. She died at her zero in Park Ridge, New Jersey on June 22, 1993 at a age of 81, the day after her 53rd wedding day of remembrance.

Her hubby followed her around dying 10 months late. She & a previous President come buried at a Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda, California. Her epitaph reads: "Even when people can't speak your language, they can tell if you have love in your heart."

Trivia

Mrs. Nixon was an inspiring fan of soap operas, Search for Tomorrow being her favorite. She was the large fan of actor Larry Haines. Of these day, while she wwhen allowing an official White Home work within Future York City, she saw him hike past her, & was quoted late as with excitement whispering to her hubby, "Look, dear, it's Stu Bergman. Stu from Search for Tomorrow."
